A patient in the insured’s nursing home was dropped while being transferred to a wheelchair and subsequently died later that same day. Initially, the death certificate provided that the fatality was due to the accident, noting minor blunt head injury to the patient. Thereafter, representatives of the nursing home, including its attorney, met with the county coroner who subsequently modified the death certificate to indicate that the injury from the fall was not a major cause of the patient’s death. The estate of the deceased patient sued the nursing home, the Insured, and the coroner alleging improper interference with the wrongful death claim against the nursing home.
